Colon Polyps

Colon Polyps are small growths on the lining of the colon. Most are benign, but some polyps called adenomas are precancerous. These adenomas are removed during a colonoscopy, preventing them from turning into colorectal cancers.

Colon screenings are recommended for most Americans beginning at age 50. If you have certain risk factors, you may need screening earlier. Many people are unnecessarily frightened of having a colonoscopy.
